Teresa Snyder, M.S., CCC-SLP
ABOUT ME
I'm Teresa Snyder, a speech language pathologist (SLP) and Holy Fire Reiki Master. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with B.A. in Psychology and Political Science. After working in the non-profit world, I found my way to the field of speech language pathology. I graduated from Eastern Washington University with M.S. in Communication Sciences and I have been a practicing SLP for the last 8 years. Currently, I live in Long Beach, CA with my partner and two kids (3 year old and 5 year old). As an SLP, I always strive to form an authentic connection with each family I work with and seek to understand each person's motivation for communicating. I bring a holistic and neurodiversity affirming mindset to my sessions, honoring sensory needs and communication in all forms. As a trained Reiki Master, I also offer healing energy where it is most needed and support you with tools on you on your own healing journey.

Reiki
What is reiki?
✨ Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing. Mikao Usui developed reiki in the early 1900s, deriving the term from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal,” and ki, which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Now, reiki is used all over the world to complement other forms of health treatments.
How does reiki work?
A trained and certified reiki practitioner acts as a conduit between you and the source of the universal life force energy. The practitioner will assess, clear, and balance your chakras (main energy centers of the body). The reiki energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to you, via gentle touch on or above your physical body. Reiki can also be sent through distance healing techniques.
What does a reiki session look/feel like?
Practitioners will typically give reiki treatment in a peaceful, private setting. The client will sit in a comfortable chair or lie on a massage table. The practitioner will then place their hands lightly on or over specific areas of the client’s head, limbs, and torso. You may experience the energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling or pulsing where the reiki practitioner has placed their hands, while other people do not perceive any change at all. Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during reiki treatment, and many fall asleep during the process.
My HEaling JOUrney with reiki
My journey with reiki began when my partner and I were first trying to conceive. After having an ectopic pregnancy, I experienced a lot of grief and fear around trying to conceive again. I discovered Raa'na, from Touch of Light Wellness, and had my first reiki session. I found reiki to be supportive in acknowledging and letting go of my fears and doubts. It allowed me to trust in the timing of events in my life. I also needed some deep physical, spiritual, and emotional healing after having surgery to remove one of my fallopian tubes. Soon after my first reiki session, I was pregnant with my first son and reiki has been a part of my life ever since then.
Reiki has been highly beneficial for me as a parent, offering a calming and restorative way to manage stress. By promoting relaxation, it helps caregivers recharge physically and emotionally, allowing them to better handle the demands of parenting. Reiki’s gentle energy healing can also enhance mental clarity and emotional balance, leading to more patience, empathy and presence when showing up for our kids.
After I had my second child, I felt called to train to become a reiki practitioner so that I can now incorporate reiki energy healing into my daily life. I continued in the learning journey to Master Level, so that I can teach this loving healing practice to others who are ready to do the work of healing within their own homes and communities. Reiki is meant to be shared and I look forward to the opportunity to share a session or a class with you!
